Mit dem Bau des Grand Canal du Nord, einer Wasserstra\u00dfe zwischen Antwerpen, der Maas und dem Rhein, verfolgte Napoleon Bonaparte vor rund 200 Jahren ein ambitioniertes Vorhaben. Obwohl das Projekt unvollendet blieb, wurden Teilst\u00fccke von Neuss bis Neersen und von Nederweert bis Beringe\/Helden realisiert. An der Kreuzung des Nordkanals mit der Obererft entstand 1809 das Epanchoir, ein innovatives Kreuzungsbauwerk. Dieses raffinierte Staubecken mit Schleusenwerk reguliert den Wasserfluss der beiden Flie\u00dfgew\u00e4sser. Nach einer dreij\u00e4hrigen Restaurierung bis 2017 wurde das Bauwerk aufwendig freigelegt und rekonstruiert. Heute z\u00e4hlt es zu den bedeutenden historischen Sehensw\u00fcrdigkeiten in Neuss.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
